I just uploaded some pictures from a photo job I did in California in October 2011.  The job was for a Haitian Folkloric dance company called Rara Tou Limen (Rara or RTL for short).  Rara was Established in 2004 by Artistic Director Portsha Jefferson. The Company has continually offered Bay Area residents, as well as people from all over the United States, the opportunity to experience Haitian music, dance and culture through classes, workshops, performances and educational events in both the United States and in Haiti. Our mission is to educate audiences about the richness of Haitian culture through artistic expression, while building and enhancing working relationships with other Haitian cultural groups in the U.S. and Haiti. The Company is carrying on the long legacy of creating strength and solidarity within the Haitian community, while actively raising awareness (and funds) for Haitian organizations.

RTL had its first full length show in October 2011.  Since they’ve partnered with Rhythm N Dance to facilitate some dance classes here in the DC Metro Area, I wanted to show my support by being in Oakland for their first full length performance.  It was a great show!  Here are some images from the show so you can get a glimpse at how amazing this dance company really is!
