About Kevin and Path of Progress

A scholar-artist at the crossroads: Kevin McEwen merges education, performance, pedagogy, and African Diasporic research, with 25 years of deepening cultural connections.

Who Is Kevin McEwen?

A native of Brooklyn, Kevin McEwen’s journey began with breakdancing and reggae dancehall competitions. Today, he is a respected performer, educator, choreographer, and researcher with over 18 years of experience.
His foundation in African Diasporic dance includes training in Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Cuba, and Haiti. Kevin’s work blends cultural preservation, storytelling, and youth mentorship through movement.

Followed Chicago youth to Senegal for cultural exchange in drumming.

Dance to Save Lives (Haiti)

Annual dance retreats in Jacmel with folkloric training for youth.

Kofago Dance Ensemble

A social justice initiative turned full dance company.
